2017 International Bebras Tasks Workshop

Brescia, Italy, May 29th - June 2nd

With the patronage of Municipality of Brescia and the support of Messagenet and Fondazione Atlante.

The 2017 International Bebras Tasks Workshop will be hosted by the Department of Computer Science, Università degli Studi di Milano, and will be held in Brescia, Italy, from Monday May 29th to Friday June 2nd 2017.

The main purpose of the workshop is to prepare the international task base for the national Bebras contests, which will take place in 2017/18 in more than 50 countries.

Bebras Tasks Workshop participants

Working groups

A large part of the work will be improving and finalizing the task proposals. We distributed both task proposals and participants of the workshop over eleven working groups. Each group will have a chair and a deputy. In the SVN there is a folder 2017/Working Groups with a file with tasks per group and the participants for every group. Taks proposals will be available into the folders of the working groups. During the workshop, these folders will contain the results which we are working on.

Please prepare yourself for the workshop. Take some time to read the task proposals your group will be covering, otherwise groups will lose a lot of time!

Tasks preparation and review

You are asked to create and finalize the tasks you want to be worked on in the workshop, and submit them to Bebras SVN repository. Also, you are asked to say whether you are willing to help as a reviewer. Please read and follow this call for tasks and reviewers and use the HTML task template or the odt task template. We strongly advise to use the HTML template this year; many systems we use in our competitions require the HTML anyway and interactivity can be shown easier in HTML.

How to reach

Brescia is about:

From the airports of Milano Malpensa, Milano Linate and Bergamo Orio al Serio, you can reach Brescia by train or bus.

Bergamo-Orio al Serio Airport is a common destination for several low cost companies. If you plan to arrive there, take a bus shuttle (navetta) to Brescia or go to the Bergamo City Railway Station by bus or taxi and take a train to Brescia (one train per hour, 1 hour travel time).

Both Milano-Linate and Milano-Malpensa airports are well linked with Milano Centrale (by train or buses) and once there you can take a train to Brescia (40/70 minutes travel time, depending on the chosen train, local train ticket is 7,30 euro, fast train ticket is from 19,90 euro, see http://www.trenitalia.com/).There are bus shuttles too from Milan airports to Brescia. Please take a look to the airport websites. Note that from Milano Malpensa there are also several trains directed to Milano Cadorna, which should be avoided since trains to Brescia leave from Milano Centrale instead.

Once in Brescia (railway station or bus terminal), you can reach Centro Paolo VI by bus (line 2 or 18, 15 min), on foot (20 min), or taxi (max 10 min). In the website of Centro Paolo VI you will find detailed directions.
